Freedom Prayer
Had an eating disorder for many years and feel this was due to low self esteem, but still struggle with negative thoughts and feeling I am not good enough or clever enough. Now worried all the time about my kids as I'm married to a non Christian who is a member of the Self Realisation Fellowship and talks to the kids about his beliefs. I pray for them but keep thinking I am in a sinful marriage so my kids will suffer. I believe God wants my husband to be a Christian but I find it hard to believe this can happen. I just want my family to be united in Christ

Word of God, that is, in scriptures. That is what the Bible means by "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind"(Ro.12:2). So, it is nothing you can do of your own; you have to first give your mind to God by focusing on his word. Start reading 30 minutes of scripture a day, and you will begin to see the difference. There was a time when I could not stop negative, fearful thoughts from entering my mind, but once I started reading the Bible daily, I found that I began to have more power over my thoughts. And most importantly, my peace was more consistent. Afterall, the Bible does say that "God gives him perfect peace who mind is stayed on him..."(Isa.26:3). So, again, the key is staying close to God through his word.Just relax and read his word. Start with the book of Matthew and read the book of Acts afterwards. The Holy Spirit will lead you from there on.
Also, get into prayer a lot more. God can move supernaturally when you draw near to him. As you draw nearer to him, your faith grows- your ability to trust God to do whatever you ask of him. You see, God can do nothing without faith(Heb.11:6); so the first thing he does is build our faith as we stay close to him. Another thing, you can not have power over demons if you don't stay close to Jesus, because Jesus is the only thing they fear. The more time you spend with Jesus, the more he fills the atmosphere of your home, and that presence begins to repel evil spirits. And be sure to plead the blood of Jesus over your family everyday. Demons fear the blood of Jesus. Anyone who has ever had the experience of dealing with demons understand that. They fear the blood because it represents the power of God and their defeat at the cross. So never go a day without pleading the blood over your family. Please understand that if you don't anything else! Plead the blood over your family often! "Life and death are in the power of the tongue"(Prov.18:21).
Finally, be sure to get into a holy church where you can grow and learn all you can about Jesus. We all need help from other believers; and to not get that help is to open ourselves up to the tricks of the devil. He will defeat us then. However, as we join with other believers, God exposes Satan's plans to us so that we can circumvent them. So join a church. You'll be glad you did. It will change yours and your family's life.I'm sure of that. I have seen many things change in my life once I started fellowshipping with other believers. Always have people in your life who can pray for you and you for them. This strengths the believers. None of us were created to stand alone, but together. Our strenth is in unity. Remember that.
So don't worry about anything. Let God handle what going on in your life as you draw closer to him. He already knows what you need. Let him guide you the right way into his blessings for your life. Just be patient and keep growing. Everything will be okay in time.
God bless you!
